Hollywood actress Gabrielle Union has opened up about a traumatic incident that took place when she was in her teenage years.

According to the actress she was raped at gunpoint when she was 19-years-old. She had been working a summer job at Payless Shoe store when the incident took place. The person who raped her was an employee from another Payless store. He also robbed the store and raped another person too.
The 41-year-old actress said, "When something catastrophic happens in life everyone rallies around you but it's not for something positive and I hated that. I hated feeling like a victim, it makes you lazy. I wanted to embrace being a survivor. I was raised to be an independent woman. That's the road I decided to take."
Gabrielle did not let the incident consume her, she overcame and embraced being a survivor.
