Kanu Nwankwo has just undergone a heart surgery in Cleveland Hospital, Ohio, USA
Iconic Nigerian ex-footballer, Kanu Nwankwo, has reportedly undergone a corrective heart surgery at the Cleveland Hospital, Ohio, USA.
NET gathered that the surgery, which was carried out over the weekend, took place during his yearly routine medical check at the hospital, which was also where he had his first heart surgery in 1997.
Speaking on his behalf, the coordinator of the Kanu Heart Foundation, Pastor Onyebuchi Abia, who confirmed the success of the surgery, said, ‘I spoke with him Sunday afternoon and he confirmed he’s in a stable condition. He’ll be back home in a few days time.’
The legendary Nigerian footballer, who is also a Gold-winning Olympian, played in most of the major European leagues in his heydays.
Kanu is currently recuperating, after having left the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
