The 71st Golden Globe Awards aka The Oscars were held on January 12, 2014 at the Beverly Hiltonwith 2013 British-American epic historical drama film ‘12 Years a Slave‘ winning the coveted award for‘Best Motion Picture‘.
‘12 Years of a Slave‘ is an adaptation of the 1853 autobiography by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free negro who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841 and sold into slavery. It received seven nominations along with ‘American Hustle‘.
